Dr. Sally Lorentson serves as Assistant Vice President in University Life at George Mason University while maintaining an adjunct faculty role in the Recreation, Health, and Tourism department and Higher Education Program. She earned her Ed.D. in Higher Education Administration from The George Washington University and a master’s in Counseling from California Lutheran University.
Her research focuses on student transitions, substance use among college students, support for student athletes, and the scholar-practitioner model in student affairs. With nearly 20 years of experience, she has held roles spanning housing, wellness programming, and recreation services. Dr. Lorentson pioneered the first Contemporary Student Services office in US higher education and currently sits on the editorial board of the NASPA Journal of Student Affairs Research and Practice.
