Sally Hopewell

Sally Hopewell is Professor of Clinical Trials and Evidence Synthesis at the University of Oxford, where she serves as Theme Lead for Clinical Trials. With an impressive h-index of 74 and over 300 published research studies, she has established herself as a leading expert in clinical research methodology.

Her primary research interests include the design, conduct, and transparent reporting of randomized trials and systematic reviews. She has been instrumental in developing key international reporting guidelines, most notably the CONSORT 2025 and SPIRIT 2025 Statements, which have significantly influenced how clinical trials are reported globally.

Dr. Hopewell's recent publications demonstrate her continued leadership in clinical trial methodology, with numerous high-impact papers in journals like The Lancet, JAMA, BMJ, and Nature Medicine. Her work spans both the development of reporting guidelines and applied clinical trials in areas such as rehabilitation, musculoskeletal sciences, and pediatric orthopedics.
