Sally Hobday is an Associate Professor in Teacher Education and Development at the University of Birmingham's School of Education. She joined in 2013, initially as a Lecturer in Secondary English Initial Teacher Education, and now oversees the MSC TESOL programme and collaborates with ITE partners through her role as Collaborative Provisions Officer. Her research focuses on pedagogical approaches to teaching grammar and teacher professional development.
With over 20 years in secondary education, Sally held leadership roles such as Senior Mentor in Birmingham and Solihull schools. She holds a higher degree in Educational Studies emphasizing grammar pedagogy and is a Senior Fellow of the HEA.
Her expertise spans secondary English and PE teaching, educational leadership, and quality assurance in teacher training. She contributes to the PGDipEd (QTS) Secondary English course and supports validated ITE programmes across partner institutions.
