- Education: DPhil (Oxford), MA & BA (Birmingham)
Her research focuses on reconstructing medieval Welsh liturgical practices, examining the interplay between music and identity in pre-modern Wales, and exploring the transmission of sacred music across borders. Notable contributions include editing the Welsh Music History journal and co-publishing critical editions of liturgical manuscripts like the Salisbury Masses.
Recent work highlights include the 2025 analysis of cathedral poet-residencies and 2022 studies on Elizabethan Welsh secular music. Her 2016 volume Late Medieval Liturgies Enacted redefines understanding of worship practices in both cathedral and parish contexts. Over three decades, her interdisciplinary approach bridges musicology, history, and material culture.
- Awards: Fellow of the Learned Society of Wales (2010), Fellow of the Royal Historical Society
Current projects involve collaborative research on sacred music preservation in UK cathedrals, combining historical scholarship with contemporary performance studies. Her work frequently engages with manuscript archives and liturgical artifacts to illuminate forgotten musical traditions.
