Sally Chan is a Lecturer in Marketing at the Leeds University Business School, University of Leeds, where she has been teaching since 2006. With over 30 years of experience in marketing education across UK business schools, she is a dedicated academic and sustainability leader. She currently serves as Interim Director of Sustainability and is a Certified Carbon Literacy Trainer, driving climate action initiatives across the university.

Sally's research centers on marketing communications, advertising history, and ethical representations, with a particular focus on martial arts discourse and racialized stereotypes in British advertising. She is deeply committed to decolonising the curriculum and enhancing student experience through inclusive pedagogy and creative engagement.
Her recent scholarly and practice-based outputs reflect a strong interdisciplinary trend, bridging advertising, film studies, cultural representation, and sustainability. The articles and projects show a consistent focus on archival research, creative industries, and social impact, particularly in education and environmental action.

Sally has extensive experience supervising dissertations across BA, MA, MSc, and MBA programmes and has served as Placement Tutor for major companies including Disney, L'Oreal, and Apple. She has led significant grant-funded and university-led initiatives such as the Walking to Zero Project, Carbon Literacy Training, and the FutureLearn Climate Action course, securing institutional support for sustainability education and public engagement.
She is a member of the Global and Strategic Marketing Research Centre and leads the Walking to Zero Project, which connects art, photography, and environmental awareness. As a Trustee of the History of Advertising Trust, she fosters collaboration between academic research and industry archives, enhancing access to historical advertising collections for students and researchers.
