Saira Mohamed is the Agnes Roddy Robb Chair in Jurisprudence, Ethics, and Social Responsibility and a Professor of Law at Berkeley Law, University of California, Berkeley. Her research focuses on criminal law, human rights, and international law, particularly addressing accountability in armed conflict and mass atrocity scenarios. She explores legal frameworks governing state treatment of military personnel, with articles in prestigious journals like the Yale Law Journal and Columbia Law Review.
Education: J.D. from Columbia Law School (where she was Executive Articles Editor of the Columbia Law Review), B.A. in History and International Affairs from Yale University, and a Master of International Affairs from Columbia’s School of International and Public Affairs.
Research Interests: Mohamed’s work bridges domestic and international legal systems, emphasizing ethical dimensions of state power. She examines military justice, human rights in conflict zones, and comparative legal approaches to accountability. Recent scholarship highlights tensions between national security and individual rights.
