Sahed Ahmed Palash is a Researcher in the Department of Biology at the University of Hamburg, Faculty of Mathematics, Computer Science and Natural Sciences, based at the Institute of Marine Ecosystem and Fisheries Sciences within the Marine Ecosystem Dynamics research group (Gr. Elbstr. 133, Hamburg).
His academic background includes a Master of Science in Biological Oceanography from Kiel University. Prior research experience encompasses a student assistant role in the SFB 754 project at GEOMAR (January 2018-April 2019) and participation in the Ocean artUp project in Gran Canaria (October-December 2018).
Palash investigates direct and indirect impacts of global environmental change on larval fish in the Elbe estuary using mesocosm experimental approaches. His work manipulates plankton composition and densities to study predator-prey dynamics between mesozooplankton and fish larvae under varying temperatures and nutrient conditions, while simultaneously examining reciprocal effects of larval fish predation on zooplankton communities to quantify feeding selectivity and rates.
He is an active member of the RTG2530 graduate school "Biota-mediated effects on carbon cycling in estuaries," focusing on interdisciplinary connections between biological processes and carbon cycling in estuarine ecosystems.
