Sahara Byrne

Sahara Byrne serves as Dean of the University of Denver’s College of Arts, Humanities & Social Sciences. A Professor in Communication, she holds a B.F.A. in Film and Television Production from NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts, an M.A. in Communication from UC Santa Barbara, and a Ph.D. in Communication with a focus on Media Psychology and Cognitive Development. Her research explores 'boomerang effects' in strategic messaging, particularly why pro-social messages targeting children and adolescents often backfire. She investigates how message disruption processes (e.g., 'noise') influence resistance to health campaigns and media literacy efforts.
