Sahadat Hossain is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Public Health and Informatics at Jahangirnagar University, Dhaka, Bangladesh, and a PhD candidate at University College London (UCL) under a Commonwealth Scholarship. His research focuses on epidemiology, behavioral health, and public health policy, with a particular emphasis on mental health during pandemics, tobacco control, and health equity. He has led multiple research projects as Principal Investigator, including studies on tobacco retail licensing and pandemic mental health responses.
Education includes an MS (GPA 3.83, 1st position) and BSc (CGPA 3.75) in Public Health and Informatics from Jahangirnagar University. His academic career includes roles as Lecturer (2019–2023) and Assistant Professor (2023–present) at Jahangirnagar University, alongside non-academic roles as a Field Research Officer at the International Centre for Diarrhoeal Disease Research and Research Assistant at Bangladesh University of Health Sciences.
Research interests span epidemiological analysis, behavioral determinants of health, and global health challenges. Over 50 peer-reviewed publications address topics like pandemic mental health, diabetes epidemiology, and tobacco control policies. Notable projects include investigations into lockdown effects on mental health and the implementation of tobacco control measures in Bangladesh.
His work aligns with Sustainable Development Goal 3 (Good Health and Well-being), emphasizing evidence-based interventions to improve health outcomes. Awards and fellowships include the National Science and Technology (NST) fellowship for his MS thesis and support from the IGTC, Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health.
