Safa Akalay

Safa Akalay is a Researcher at Eskisehir Osmangazi University's Faculty of Art and Design, Department of Visual Communication Design, appointed in 2022. Born in 1990 in Istanbul, Akalay graduated from Kütahya Dumlupınar University's Faculty of Fine Arts, Graphic Design Department, and currently pursues a master's degree at Anadolu University's Graduate School of Fine Arts.

Akalay's work centers on typography and digital type creation within graphic design, with deep expertise in font and typeface design. Beginning with graffiti and writing design, Akalay bridges traditional typographic principles with contemporary digital applications. Research spans lettering systems, digital typography workflows, and visual communication aesthetics, reflecting WoS classification in Art and Avesis categorization in Graphics, Art and Design, and Design Studies. This specialized focus positions Akalay at the intersection of historical type practices and modern design innovation.
