Dr. Sadie Parr is a Senior Research Fellow and Post-Graduate Research Tutor at the Centre for Regional Economic and Social Research within Sheffield Hallam University. Her research examines the governance of socially disadvantaged groups, particularly focusing on homelessness and policies affecting vulnerable families. She employs qualitative methodologies including in-depth interviews and discourse analysis to understand policy implementation and professional practices.
Her research investigates social disadvantage through the lenses of homelessness, policy implementation, social care professions, and governance mechanisms. She maintains particular interest in 'troubled families' discourse and the role of the state in vulnerable populations' lives.
Dr. Parr's publications explore housing policy impacts, lived experiences in service delivery, and the intersection of motherhood and homelessness. Her work contributes to theoretical frameworks for understanding emotional and social dimensions of policy implementation.
She serves as the postgraduate research lead for CRESR and supervises doctoral students researching homelessness, trauma experiences, and residential care environments. Dr. Parr is a member of the International Editorial Advisory Board for Housing Studies.
