Sade Mäntylä is a Doctoral Researcher at the Faculty of Law, University of Helsinki, focusing on international and sustainability law, business and human rights, and the REBOUND project on the just green transition.

Her research explores contradictions and intersections between international economic law, human rights, justice, and peace. She investigates how economic frameworks, particularly in the green transition, align with human rights and social justice through the REBOUND project.
Recent outputs include a 2024 thesis analyzing international development aid's role in peacebuilding and a 2021 thesis critiquing liberal democratic peace theory's internal contradictions and their global political implications.
Mäntylä serves as Vice Chair of Legal Design Finland ry and engages in Arctic studies, bridging legal design methodologies with global justice challenges.
