Professor Sabuj Mallik is the Head of the School of Engineering and the Built Environment at Buckinghamshire New University (BNU). Previously, he held roles including Head of Engineering at the University of Derby, Academic Lead for Mechanical Engineering at the University of Central Lancashire, and various senior academic positions at the University of Greenwich. He earned his PhD in Engineering from the University of Greenwich. His research focuses on multidisciplinary areas such as electronics interconnection materials, reliability engineering, thermal management using metal matrix composites, and failure analysis of solder joints. He has collaborated with institutions and industries globally, including Rolls-Royce and JCB, and has published over 80 peer-reviewed articles. He is a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, Chartered Engineer (IMechE), and Chartered Manager (CMI).
Professor Mallik pioneered the UK's first Nuclear Engineering degree apprenticeship program with Rolls-Royce Submarines, part of the Nuclear Skills Academy (NSA), which trains 200 apprentices annually. This program addresses the UK's submarine engineering talent needs, supported by partnerships with the Nuclear Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre and National College for Nuclear. His teaching spans courses like BEng Civil Engineering, MSc Engineering Management, and sustainable electrical power engineering programs.
His research emphasizes reliability engineering, thermal management, and materials science, with contributions to solder joint integrity, finite element analysis, and composite materials. He has supervised five PhD students and serves on editorial boards and conference organizing committees. Notable industry collaborations include developing degree apprenticeships for nuclear, aerospace, and manufacturing sectors.
His scientific awards include recognition for his leadership in education and engineering. Grants and funding support his work in sustainable manufacturing and materials innovation. He also leads initiatives in holistic simulation frameworks for sustainable manufacturing processes, addressing environmental and industrial challenges.
