Sabu Abraham is a Lecturer in Cardiovascular Medicine at the University of Manchester's Division of Cardiovascular Sciences. He holds a PhD in Biochemistry from the University of Cologne and has held academic positions at Cancer Research UK London Research Institute, Institute of Cancer Research, and University College London. His research focuses on blood vessel development mechanisms, particularly the role of apelin in diabetic retinopathy and cardiovascular disease. He is a member of ARVO and NAVBO.

Research Interests: Investigating angiogenesis pathways, diabetic retinopathy, and therapeutic strategies using mouse models. Current projects include studying STX18-AS1 lncRNA in heart development and 3D organoid technology for cardiovascular research.
Teaching: Involves MRes Cardiovascular Health, PEP/APEP medical student supervision, and biomedical sciences modules.
Funding & Projects: Principal investigator on BHF-funded PhD studentships (2017–2023). Collaborates on studies involving cardiac organoids and epigenetic regulators like KMT2C.
Lab Members: Supervises PhD students and mentors medical/undergraduate researchers in cardiovascular and molecular medicine projects.
