Sabrina L. Smiley is Associate Professor of Public Health at San Diego State University, specializing in tobacco regulatory science and health equity. Her research examines commercial tobacco policies, flavored product restrictions, and substance use interventions in vulnerable communities. Funded by NIH, FDA, and TRDRP, her work includes a $5.2M NIDA award for opioid treatment equity research.
With expertise in qualitative methods and community-engaged research, she investigates implementation of menthol cigarette bans and vaping regulations. Recent publications analyze retailer and consumer responses to tobacco policies. Awards include recognition from the American Association for Cancer Research and Society for Research on Nicotine and Tobacco.
