She mentors early-career investigators and serves on editorial boards for Nicotine & Tobacco Research and Experimental and Clinical Psychopharmacology.
Her research interests span tobacco regulatory science, addiction neurobiology, and mental health comorbidity. Notable studies include examining reduced nicotine content cigarettes, menthol cigarette alternatives, and the impact of FDA policies on smoking behavior. She collaborates with CAAS faculty on interventions targeting substance use disorders. Recent grants and trials investigate smoking cessation in HIV-positive populations, opioid use disorder, and adolescent smoking initiation.
Dr. Tidey’s work emphasizes health equity, with studies addressing disparities in smoking rates among marginalized groups. Her lab evaluates behavioral economic models of smoking reinforcement and develops clinical tools like the Cigarette Purchase Task. She advocates for integrating tobacco treatment into mental health care systems, evidenced by her role in implementing chronic care models in community clinics.
