Sabrina Jones is a Lecturer in the Department of English at Marshall University, where she has spent over a decade teaching composition, rhetoric, and literature. A proud alumna—holding both a BA (2004) and MA (2010) from Marshall—she is deeply invested in the university community. She specializes in Composition and Rhetoric, Contemporary American Literature, and Young Adult/Dystopian Fiction, with a particular focus on Appalachian voices and themes of empowerment.
Education:
- MA, Marshall University, 2010
- BA, Marshall University, 2004
Her research and teaching intersect around the power of language and narrative, both in the classroom and in broader cultural contexts. She is currently developing scholarly work on how language shapes identity and agency in first-year composition courses.
Her recent creative and academic publications reflect her dual commitment to literary expression and pedagogical innovation. Her poem “My Daddy’s Teeth” was featured in the Anthology of Appalachian Writers, and she is preparing an essay for a forthcoming Cambridge Scholars volume on voice and empowerment in English studies.
She is also an academic mentor through the MU EDGE program, supported by a fellowship with the Higher Learning Commission, and a vocal advocate for adjunct and contingent faculty recognition in West Virginia.
