Professor Sabine Saurugger is a faculty member at the College of Europe, specializing in EU Public Policy with expertise in norms, law, and politics. She teaches a 30-hour research seminar worth 15 ECTS credits during the second semester of the 2024-2025 academic year.
Her research focuses on:
- European integration through law since the European Coal and Steel Community
- Creation, implementation, and effects of EU norms and regulations
- The political dimensions of EU policy making
- The role and impact of the Court of Justice of the European Union
Professor Saurugger examines how EU legal frameworks regulate economic, social, and political relations between actors at both European and domestic levels. She approaches the core identity of the EU—integration through law—from a political science perspective, investigating why certain norms are established and their subsequent effects.
She is affiliated with the European Public Policy Analysis department at the College of Europe, which operates campuses in Bruges (Belgium), Natolin (Poland), and Tirana (Albania). Her academic work is supported by assistant Leo BRANDT.
