Sabine Braun

Professor Sabine Braun is a leading academic in Translation Studies at the University of Surrey, serving as Director of the Centre for Translation Studies and Co-Director of the Surrey Institute for People-Centred Artificial Intelligence. She holds an MA from Heidelberg University and a Dr Phil from Tübingen University. Her research focuses on the intersection of technology and interpreting, particularly video-mediated interpreting, remote simultaneous interpreting, and AI integration in communication support. She has pioneered studies on remote interpreting’s impact in healthcare, legal, and educational settings, emphasizing fairness, trust, and accessibility.

Research interests include human-machine collaboration in translation, audiovisual translation, and accessibility solutions like audio description. Key projects include the ADA Network (AI-Enabled Digital Accessibility) and the AVIDICUS studies on video-mediated legal interpreting.
