Dr. Diana Singureanu is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Interpreting Studies at the University of Surrey's Centre for Translation Studies, part of the School of Literature and Languages. She holds a PhD in Interpreting Studies (2023), an MA in Translation Studies, an MA in Conference Interpreting, and a Diploma in Public Service Interpreting. Her research focuses on challenges in video-mediated court interpreting, emotional intelligence, and legal interpreting practices.
Dr. Singureanu has taught as a Visiting Lecturer on Legal Interpreting at the University of Surrey (2020–2023) and as a Lecturer in Conference Interpreting at London Metropolitan University (2017–2018). She is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA). Her work addresses VMI's impact on interpreter performance, courtroom dynamics, and remote defendant communication. Recent achievements include an Early Career Researcher Fellowship (2024).
Her publications analyze interpreter strategies in VMI environments and advocate for improved training and guidelines. Collaborations include projects on PSI (Public Service Interpreting) and EU standards. Dr. Singureanu’s interdisciplinary approach bridges interpreting studies, technology, and legal contexts, contributing to both academic discourse and practical policy-making.
