Professor SIU Kaxton is an Associate Professor in the Department of Sociology at Hong Kong Baptist University's Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences (Academy of Geography, Sociology and International Studies). His primary research focuses on sociological studies of Asian societies and social policy development.
Research interests span comparative sociology across East and Southeast Asian contexts, including specialized expertise in:
- Social welfare systems and policy analysis
- Labour economics and workforce dynamics
- Child development and youth studies
- Demographic transitions and population studies
- Cross-societal analysis (Vietnam, Japan, Cambodia, China, Hong Kong)
His work actively contributes to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Reduced Inequalities (SDG 10).
