S. Megan Berthold

S. Megan Berthold, PhD, LCSW, is a Professor at the University of Connecticut School of Social Work where she teaches clinical and research courses as a faculty member of the Individual, Group, and Family Concentration. Her work critically addresses trauma, mental health, and human rights within forced migration contexts.

Dr. Berthold's research specializes in torture and war-related traumas, posttraumatic stress disorder, and mental health outcomes among refugees, asylum seekers, and immigrants—with particular emphasis on Cambodian refugee populations and health disparities. Her scholarly focus spans cross-cultural clinical practice, international social work frameworks, and human rights advocacy to advance social justice in vulnerable communities.
