Nouf Bazaz is a Clinical Assistant Professor at Loyola University Maryland and currently serves as the Mental Health Director of the H.E.A.L. Refugee & Asylum Collaborative in Baltimore. Previously, she held roles as Program Director of a mental health agency for refugees and immigrants, and has provided global consultation and training. She earned a Ph.D. in Counselor Education from George Washington University (GWU), an M.A. in Trauma and Violence Transdisciplinary Studies from New York University (2012), and a B.A. in International Affairs from GWU (2008).
Her research focuses on trauma, torture, grief, and loss among survivors of war, violence, and persecution. Key areas include refugee mental health, multicultural counseling, and supporting survivors of conflict. Her work emphasizes human rights frameworks and cultural humility in behavioral health.
Recent presentations address topics such as refugee mothers' resettlement, decolonizing counseling practices, and integrating immigrant youth. She has trained professionals on strengths-based approaches for Muslim refugees and Afghan clients.
