Prof. Ryuichi Shigemoto is a Principal Investigator leading the SINCHAIS project (2016-2021), funded by the European Research Council's Advanced Grant under Horizon 2020. The project focuses on visualizing single channel subunit composition in neurons using advanced electron microscopy techniques, aiming to uncover mechanisms linking synaptic plasticity to behavior.
- Research Interests: Ion channel subunit composition, synaptic efficacy regulation, optogenetic stimulation, electron tomography, and phosphoinositide-mediated ion channel regulation.
