Ryszard Brylski is a distinguished Professor at The Leon Schiller National Film School in Łódź, where he has served as a directing instructor and mentor for decades. Born on April 1, 1950 in Głowno, he graduated from the State Higher School of Fine Arts in Łódź in 1975 and completed his directing studies at the National Film School in 1982. In 2016, he earned his habilitation (doctor habilitated) in film art from the Faculty of Film and Television Directing.
Brylski's research and creative interests span film directing, screenwriting, Polish cinema history, and historical drama. His work demonstrates particular expertise in political and historical narratives, with significant contributions to Polish television and feature film production. He has directed notable works including the feature films 'Żurek' (2003), 'Deborah' (1995), 'Cudowne Lato' (2010), and 'Śmierć Zygielbojma' (2021), as well as numerous episodes of popular Polish television series such as 'Plebania' and 'Pogoda na Piątek'.
His extensive filmography shows a consistent engagement with contemporary Polish society, historical events, and innovative narrative techniques. Brylski has supervised hundreds of student film etudes, demonstrating his commitment to film education and emerging talent development.
