Prof. Ryszard Borowski is a distinguished Polish musician, composer, and pedagogue affiliated with the University of Music in Warsaw. He holds the title of Professor and specializes in jazz and early music. His academic roles include teaching jazz seminaries, composition, and orchestration at the Jazz Department. He habilitated in Composition in 2013 after earning his doctorate in 2008.
His career spans over four decades, with notable collaborations in early music ensembles like Ars Nova and jazz big bands. He founded the Warsaw Baroque Ensemble and led the Warsaw Chamber Opera orchestra. Borowski’s work includes over 100 compositions and arrangements for radio/TV, including the 'Art. Jazz Requiem' performed at the National Museum in Warsaw.
He has been ranked among Poland’s top jazz flutists in Jazz Forum polls (2000–2001, 2003, 2013–2017). His pedagogical contributions include leading big bands at the Warsaw School of Music and the Warsaw Academy of Music (2006–2012). He authored books on Gil Evans and jazz flute techniques.
