Ryan Snodgrass

Ryan Snodgrass is a Senior Research Fellow in the Quantum Sensors Division at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). He leads the Cryocoolers Team, focusing on developing compact, energy-efficient cryogenic refrigeration technologies critical for quantum information science and related fields.

• Education: Ph.D. Mechanical Engineering (Cornell University), M.S. Mechanical Engineering (Cornell University), B.S. Mechanical Engineering (The Ohio State University).

Research Interests: Ryan specializes in thermoacoustic and cryogenic systems, including pulse tube refrigerators, Gifford-McMahon cryocoolers, and sub-kelvin dilution refrigerators. His work emphasizes enhancing cooling power, rapid cooldown methods, and thermodynamic analysis for miniature systems.

Employment History: NRC Postdoctoral Fellow (2019-2021), PREP Associate (2021-present). His projects address regenerator cooling power, helium-3 circulation via cold adsorption pumps, and accessibility improvements for cryogenic technologies.
