Ryan Smit is an Associate Professor of Music at Dordt University, where he serves as Director of Choral Activities and Chair of the Music Department. He holds a Doctor of Musical Arts in Choral Conducting from North Dakota State University and has taught at Mountain Ridge High School, Lynden Christian School, and led the Bellingham Chamber Chorale.

His research focuses on choral music education and the integration of choirs in Christian worship practices. He actively composes works like "Soli Deo Gloria" (2021) and engages in national/international conducting workshops.
Previously, he performed as a tenor with the Grammy-winning Phoenix Chorale for six seasons and directed musical productions at Dordt University.
