Ryan Gauthier is an Associate Professor of Law at Thompson Rivers University's Faculty of Law and Director of the Oregon Summer Sports Law Institute. His research focuses on sports law, particularly human rights and integrity in sports governance, with special attention to Olympic-related issues and stadium financing.
He holds a BA from Carleton College, a JD from Harvard Law School, and a PhD from Erasmus University Rotterdam. His academic work includes books like *The International Olympic Committee, Law, and Accountability* (Routledge, 2017) and co-authored works analyzing salary caps in pro sports and international sports law.
His articles address topics such as stadium subsidies, Olympic accountability, and governance challenges in sports organizations. He teaches courses on Tort Law, Sports Law, and Sports & Human Rights, and has coached teams in national competitions like the Jessup Moot and Hockey Arbitration Competition. Active in the legal community, he serves on the Sports Lawyers Association’s international committee and is a member of the BC Law Society.
