Dr Ruxandra Serban is a Lecturer (Teaching) in Comparative Politics at the Department of Political Science, University College London (UCL). She joined UCL in September 2023 as an Associate Lecturer in Democratic and Authoritarian Politics and serves as Deputy Director of the MSc Democracy and Comparative Politics. Prior to UCL, she was an LSE Fellow in the Department of Methodology at the London School of Economics, where she taught research design and methods.

She has published extensively in journals like British Journal of Politics and International Relations and Government and Opposition, emphasizing comparative insights into executive accountability.
Recent publications highlight adversarial legislative behavior, cross-national accountability practices, and the need to retire outdated conceptual frameworks. She also co-authored a chapter in Exploring Parliament (Oxford University Press, 2018). Her teaching portfolio includes convening modules on democracy, authoritarianism, and British politics.
