معرفی
Dr Ruth Morgan is a Clinician in Equine Practice and a Wellcome Trust Clinical Career Development Fellow affiliated with the Centre for Cardiovascular Science at the University of Edinburgh. Her research group is part of the Hypertension & Renal Theme (HART) and focuses on stress hormone metabolism across species.
- Research Themes: Coronary & Valvular Heart Disease, Metabolism/Obesity/Diabetes, HART
Dr. Morgan's research investigates the metabolism of glucocorticoids and their role in activating glucocorticoid/mineralocorticoid receptors, particularly in obesity-related hypertension. She employs a comparative endocrinology approach, studying horses, humans, and mice to uncover translational insights into disease mechanisms.
Her work is featured in the Cardiometabolic Imaging (CINEMA) group and intersects with the Edinburgh Clinical Toxicology facility. Current projects focus on understanding interspecies differences in glucocorticoid metabolism and their clinical implications.
- Scientific Recognition: Wellcome Trust Clinical Career Development Fellow
