Dr. Ruth Maximiliane Berger is a Research Fellow at the Department of History, University of Basel. She leads the SNSF Ambizione project on economic sanctions in the Anglo-Norman region (1100-1300) and co-organizes the Premodern Economic Sanctions Workshop with Rafael Feind. Her work bridges historical analysis with contemporary debates on trade restrictions and political-economic tools.
- Research Interests: Medieval history, economic sanctions, Anglo-Norman studies, social/political/legal history
- Teaching: Active in the research colloquium Current Research on the History of Premodernity, fostering interdisciplinary dialogue between medieval and early modern scholars.
