Ruth Margolies Beitler is a Professor of Comparative Politics in the Department of Social Sciences at the United States Military Academy, where she has directed the Conflict and Human Security Studies Program since 2006. Her academic work bridges political theory, gender studies, and regional analysis, with a focus on the Middle East and North Africa.

Her research explores themes of political legitimacy, terrorism, mass rebellion, and gender roles in conflict contexts. Her work often combines theoretical frameworks with empirical case studies, particularly in the Middle East.
Selected publications highlight her interdisciplinary approach: analyzing cultural heritage protection during war (2023), gender dynamics in military systems (2021), women's roles in MENA societies (2010), and the interplay between democracy and terrorism (2006). Her early work on the Intifadas (2004) remains a foundational text in conflict studies.
