معرفی
Ruth Magaye is an Adjunct Research Fellow at the Monash Alfred Baker Centre for Cardiovascular Research, Monash University. She is actively engaged in cardiovascular research with a focus on molecular mechanisms underlying heart failure and vascular dysfunction.
Her research interests span cardiovascular disease, heart failure, sphingolipid metabolism, cardiac biomarkers, cardio-obstetrics, and uremic toxin effects. Her work contributes to UN Sustainable Development Goals related to good health and well-being.
The recent publications highlight a strong trend in investigating sphingolipid signaling pathways, particularly dihydroceramide and dihydrosphingosine derivatives, and their roles in cardiac fibrosis, hypertrophy, and endothelial impairment. The studies employ molecular and cellular models to explore therapeutic targeting of enzymes like dihydroceramide desaturase 1 and kinases such as ASK1.
She is accepting PhD students, indicating active supervision and mentorship. Her collaborative network includes prominent researchers such as Professor Wang B.H., Dr. Savira F., and Dr. Flynn B.L.
Laboratory and Research Team: She is part of the Monash Alfred Baker Centre for Cardiovascular Research, a leading institution in cardiovascular discovery, where she contributes to a collaborative team investigating metabolic and signaling pathways in heart disease.
