Ruth M. Tinnacher

Ruth M. Tinnacher is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Chemistry & Biochemistry at California State University East Bay since Fall 2016. Her research focuses on environmental geochemistry linked to energy and climate issues, including nuclear waste mobility, geologic CO₂ sequestration, and hydraulic fracturing impacts on groundwater quality.

• Dipl. Ing. (Equiv. M.Eng.) in Chemical Process Engineering in Industrial Environmental Protection, University of Leoben, Austria (2000)
• M.S. in Environmental Science & Engineering, Colorado School of Mines (2001)
• Ph.D. in Environmental Science & Engineering, Colorado School of Mines (2008)

Research Interests: Dr. Tinnacher investigates subsurface contaminant behavior, carbon sequestration effects, and energy-related environmental challenges. Her work bridges geochemistry and ecological systems, emphasizing practical solutions for sustainable energy policies.
