Whitney Trainor-Guitton is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Geophysics at Colorado School of Mines. Her research integrates spatial statistics, data science, and geophysical inversion to address critical challenges in subsurface modeling and decision-making processes.
Research Focus: Her work emphasizes quantifying uncertainty in geophysical models, with applications to geothermal exploration, CO2 sequestration monitoring, and distributed acoustic sensing (DAS) analysis. She develops value-of-information methodologies to optimize data integration and spatial decision-making for environmental and energy systems.
Publications: Her research spans spatial uncertainty analysis, geothermal fault imaging, CO2 leakage detection, and groundwater sustainability, utilizing stochastic techniques to enhance geostatistical modeling across diverse scales.
