Ruth Jindal

Ruth Jindal is an Associate Professor in Visual and Material Culture at De Montfort University, affiliated with the School of Fashion and Textiles within the Faculty of Arts, Design and Humanities. Her work bridges design history, fashion cultures, and creative pedagogy, with a strong commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI).

Ruth's research focuses on design and dress history, visual culture, cultural philanthropy, and innovative learning methods. She is an accredited LEGO Serious Play facilitator, applying creative methodologies to support wellbeing and resilience in educational and prison settings. Her teaching spans Fashion Communication and Styling, Fashion Design, and Design Crafts, emphasizing cultural context and critical thinking.

Her recent publications explore creative pedagogy, cultural philanthropy, and material culture history, reflecting interdisciplinary engagement with education, arts policy, and historical studies. These works highlight themes of student wellbeing, contemplative learning, and critical analysis of funding models in the cultural sector.
