Ruth Evans holds the Dorothy McBride Orthwein Professorship in English at Saint Louis University, specializing in Middle English literature and manuscript studies. She earned degrees from the Universities of Leeds and Manchester.
Her research examines gender, sexuality, and memory in medieval texts using feminist and psychoanalytic frameworks. Notable projects include analyses of Chaucer's works and the politics of textual transmission.
Dr. Evans serves as Executive Director of the New Chaucer Society and co-edits the Manchester University Press Medieval Literature Series. Recent work explores medieval artificial memory systems and queer theoretical approaches.
