Ruth Emond is a Professor of Social Work at the University of Stirling, where she serves as Director of the MSc in Social Work Studies and Pathway Lead for the PGCert in Advanced Practice Skills. She works part-time at both the University of Stirling and Family Change, a therapeutic service for children and families affected by trauma.
Her research focuses on the everyday experiences of looked after children, including friendships, school environments, routines, and food practices. She has conducted ethnographic studies in the UK, Ireland, and Cambodia, often collaborating with Ian McIntosh and Samantha Punch on projects like the Food for Thought initiative (https://www.foodforthoughtproject.info).
