Ruth Dowsett

Dr. Ruth Dowsett is a Lecturer and researcher in the School of the Built Environment at the University of Reading. Her academic roles include module convenor for undergraduate and postgraduate construction management courses. She holds a PhD (EngD), MSc in Renewable Energy, and BSc in Building Surveying from the University of Reading.

Her research focuses on Building Information Modeling (BIM), robotics in construction, and Modern Methods of Construction (MMC). Notable projects include the Innovate UK-funded FRAMBE initiative exploring robotic assembly and an EPSRC project on BIM implementation success metrics. She has contributed to over a dozen peer-reviewed articles addressing topics like automation impacts, supply chain integration, and sustainable design.

Ruth has advised on funded research including the 'Re-establishing Cultural Identity in Small Scale Housing' and has presented at international conferences such as the Engineering Project Organization Conference and Nordic Construction Economics events. Her work bridges academic research with practical industry applications, emphasizing technology adoption challenges and workforce adaptation in construction innovation.
