Ruth Barber serves as an Assistant Professor in Theatre Production and Management at the School of Music, Theatre, and Dance, Ithaca College, with over 40 years of professional experience in theatrical painting. Her career includes residencies at Rochester’s Geva Theatre, Atlanta’s Alliance Theatre Company, and Baltimore’s Centerstage, alongside collaborations with Roundabout Theater Company, The Kennedy Center, and Ford's Theatre.
Her research and practice specialize in scenic artistry across theatrical, historic restoration, and media contexts. Notable projects include restoration work in the Georgia State Capitol chambers and Atlanta’s Fox Theatre, decorative painting for the Newington Cropsey Gallery, and film/television contributions to Disney's "Remember the Titans", CBS Evening News sets, and National Geographic productions. This diverse portfolio bridges academic mentorship with real-world artistic application.
