Russell Williams is Associate Professor of Comparative Literature and English at the American University of Paris, where he also serves as Director of the Learning Commons and Director of Faculty Development. He holds a Ph.D. from the University of London Institute in Paris.
His research centers on contemporary French literature, particularly Michel Houellebecq's works, with additional expertise in European detective fiction, digital poetics, and literature-technology intersections. He has published extensively on narrative technique, authorial provocation, and representations of technology in contemporary fiction.
Awards include multiple teaching innovation awards and the 2022 Undergraduate Student Council recognition. He edits Cahiers Series and contributes literary criticism to the Times Literary Supplement.
Courses developed include Digital Poetics, Serialisation studies, and 'The Rest is Noise' exploring music-literature connections.
