Russell Bonduriansky

Russell Bonduriansky is a Professor at the School of Biological, Earth & Environmental Sciences, University of New South Wales (UNSW), where he has been a faculty member since 2004. He holds a BSc and MSc from the University of Guelph and a PhD from the University of Toronto. His research integrates evolutionary ecology, genetics, and entomology, focusing on sexual selection, developmental plasticity, life history evolution, nongenetic inheritance, and the maintenance of sexual reproduction in facultatively parthenogenetic insects.

Bonduriansky leads the Evolutionary Biology Lab at UNSW, investigating topics such as transgenerational effects of environmental stressors, ageing, sexual conflict, and ecological adaptations in insects. His work combines field studies (e.g., in Australian and Queensland rainforests) with experimental approaches. Recent publications emphasize parthenogenesis evolution, climatic adaptation, and reproductive strategies, reflecting a trend toward understanding rapid environmental change impacts on evolutionary processes.
