Dr. David Shuker is a Senior Lecturer in the School of Biology at the University of St Andrews, where he is affiliated with the Centre for Biological Diversity and the Institute of Behavioural and Neural Sciences. His research focuses on the evolution and ecology of insect reproductive behavior, examining how natural and sexual selection shape reproductive decisions in insects using diverse methodologies including behavioral experiments, fieldwork, and molecular genetics.
Dr. Shuker's research interests center on evolutionary processes in insect reproductive systems, with particular expertise in sex allocation, mating behaviors, and the genetic basis of reproductive decisions. His work employs parasitic wasps, lygaeid seed bugs, and mealybugs as model organisms to investigate fundamental questions about natural and sexual selection.
