Ruiz Martín Felipe

Felipe Ruiz Martín was a distinguished Professor of Economic History at the Autonomous University of Madrid, holding this position since 1972. He was also the first Professor of Economic History in Spain, appointed in Bilbao in 1961. His research focused on the financial trajectory of Spain from the 15th to the 18th centuries. He was honored with the Grand Cross of the Civil Order of Alfonso X the Wise (1987), the Castilla y León Prize (1991), and the National History Award (1991). He was a member of the Royal Academy of History and the Royal Academy of History and Art of San Quirce.

Tragically, Professor Ruiz Martín passed away on January 27, 2004, leaving a legacy in economic and financial historiography.
