Rui Pedro Da Costa Neto

Rui Pedro Da Costa Neto is a Professor at the Faculty of Engineering of Universidade Lusófona and a Researcher at IN+ Center for Innovation, Technology and Policy Research. He holds a PhD in Chemical Engineering and a Post-Doctorate in Mechanical Engineering from Universidade Técnica de Lisboa. His expertise spans hydrogen safety, lithium-ion battery safety, and energy storage systems, including fuel cells, batteries, and phase change materials.

Education: PhD in Chemical Engineering (Universidade Técnica de Lisboa), Post-Doctorate in Mechanical Engineering (Técnico de Lisboa/IST). He has supervised 54 Master's and 1 PhD student in Mechanical Engineering, Energy Management, and related fields. His career includes roles as R&D Director at SRE and coordination of over 12 national/international projects in energy systems, environment, and transport sectors.

Research interests focus on renewable energies, decarbonisation, circular economy, energy storage technologies, and complex problem-solving in energy systems. Notable contributions include developing Portugal's first PEM fuel cell (2002) and a redox battery prototype.
