معرفی
Rufus Brunt is a Lecturer in Earth and Environmental Sciences at The University of Manchester. He holds a Ph.D. from the University of Leeds (1999) under the Turbidite Research Group, focusing on turbidite facies transitions in the Alpine foreland basin. His research integrates field-based methodologies, remote sensing, and experimental modeling to study sediment transport and basin-scale stratigraphy.
Brunt’s expertise includes sedimentology, stratigraphy, and petroleum geoscience, with a focus on deep-water environments and submarine systems. Since 2005, he has led projects in the Permian Karoo Basin of South Africa, analyzing slope-to-basin-floor sedimentary dynamics. Collaborations include the Stratigraphy Group and international projects in Peru, Mexico, and Tanzania. His work contributes to SDGs through improved understanding of sedimentary systems critical for hydrocarbon reservoir prediction.
Key research themes include submarine channel evolution, clastic sediment transport, and the application of GIS for large-scale basin analysis. He supervises graduate students and leads the 'Basins, Stratigraphy and Sedimentary Processes' project, exploring mudstone dynamics and reservoir quality in subsurface systems.
