Rufus Barfield

Rufus Barfield is an Associate Professor of Human Communication at the Nicholson School of Communication and Media (NSCM) at the University of Central Florida (UCF). He holds offices in CMB 170A (main campus) and CMB 203 (downtown campus), with primary administrative support from NSCM 238.

Barfield earned a bachelor's and master's from Bowie University, followed by a doctoral degree in Organizational Communication from Howard University. His teaching focuses on business communication, conflict management, and group dynamics.

• Research Focus: Health communication innovations to address disparities through technology-driven solutions for medication adherence and treatment compliance in underserved communities
• Community Engagement: Partnerships with community-based healthcare organizations to deliver education and interventions in disadvantaged areas

He has received significant recognition including the Bayer Health Care Communication Grant. Current roles include advising duties and participation in UCF's main Orlando campus operations.
