Rudolf Wachter is an Honorary Professor of the Faculty of Arts at the University of Lausanne and holds the title of Associate Professor in the Department of Language and Information Sciences. He also serves as Extraordinary Professor of Greek, Latin, and Indo-European Linguistics at the University of Basel. Born in 1954, he earned his first doctorate with Altlateinische Inschriften (1987) and a second doctorate in Oxford (1991) for his work on non-Attic Greek vase inscriptions.

Active in cultural preservation, he organizes historical events in Davos-Monstein and edits the Pro Monstein association’s magazine.
