معرفی
Rudolf Jaenisch is a Founding Member of the Whitehead Institute and Professor of Biology at MIT. His research focuses on the genetic and epigenetic basis of diseases like Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s, autism, cancer, and SARS-CoV-2 infection.
- Education: MD, University of Munich (1967)
- Affiliations: Whitehead Institute, MIT Biology Department
Research Interests include:
- Epigenetic regulation of gene expression
- iPSC-based disease modeling
- Epigenome editing for therapeutic applications
- Neurodegenerative disorders (Rett/Fragile X syndromes)
- Neural crest cell biology in cancer
Recent publications highlight epigenetic mechanisms in brain diseases, SARS-CoV-2 integration into host genomes, and CRISPR-based epigenetic tools. His lab develops human-mouse chimeras for authentic disease modeling.
- Scientific Honors:
- National Medal of Science (2010)
- Wolf Prize in Medicine (2011)
- March of Dimes Prize (2015)
- ISTT Prize (2024)
Jaenisch has mentored numerous trainees (e.g., Kristin Andrykovich, Anthony Flamier) and pioneered transgenic animal models since the 1970s. His work spans developmental biology, regenerative medicine, and viral pathogenesis.
